What is a Tiffin?

What is a Tiffin?

Tiffins are the traditional lunch boxes of Asia, as well as having a history of use in some parts of  Europe. It is understood their origin began in India during the British Colonial period in the 18th Century, spreading to other parts of Asia including China, Indonisia and Malaysia.  They are recognizable by their stacked compartments and handle.  A clasp is usually present on each side to hold the compartments in place.
